Get involved

Our Residence Life team works with the university’s Sport and Activity department to host a range of hall sport activities and events throughout the academic year. Joining in our halls sport programme is a great way to make new friends from your hall and others.

The emphasis is very much on having fun, getting involved and supporting your wellbeing - so even if you don’t consider yourself as sporty, you can still get involved as Halls Sport activities are open to all abilities and levels of experience. And they’re completely free for residents living in a university hall.

Halls Sport also gives you opportunities to compete for your hall in a few one-off friendly competitions. These events earn points for your residence when you take part. The hall with the most points at the end of the year will be crowned Halls Sport champs and awarded the Halls Sport Trophy

Sign up to competitions and activities

Competitions and activities take place throughout the year and may include:

• football
• pool
• netball
• basketball
• flag football
• badminton

Find out about upcoming Halls activities and competitions via the UoD Active app. 

Download the UoD Active app

You will need to download the app to book onto activities and enter competitions

1. Download the app via the Google Play or Apple App Store
2. Create an account using your university email address
3. Join the Halls Sport 2025-2026 community (and any others you may like).

Booking onto an activity or competition

To enter a Halls Sport Competition simply join your Halls of Residence Team

1. Tap on Teams
2. Find your Halls Team (e.g. Agard Court 5-a-side Footy, Flamsteed Basketball)
3. Join Team. This will automatically enter you into the team for an event.
4. Information will then be sent out 3-5 days beforehand to everyone who’s signed up

To book onto one of the Halls activities

1. Tap on the Activities icon
2. Select relevant session from Activities list
3. Tap on the Book button
