Where to live

You have a wide choice of where to live when you come to study at the University of Derby, either in University halls of residence or in private housing.

Halls of residence

Most first year students live in halls - they're just a short walk from our campuses and a great place to make friends. They offer you safe, good-value accommodation with other students.

If you’re thinking about living in halls, make sure you take some time to find out about your options and visit us at an Open Day to take a tour of some accommodation.

At our Open Days, you can chat with our Student Living staff who will have stands at all our sites on the day. They will be able to answer your questions and give you details about the accommodation tours.

Want to know what to expect when you move in to Halls of Residence? Check out our 'moving in' guidance.

If you're an existing student already living in halls, there's also lots of reasons to return to halls.

Award winners

The University of Derby's halls of residence were winners of the Best Customer Service Award at the 2018 National Student Housing Survey Awards. They were also shortlisted for Best Booking Experience and Best Environmental Management and they were awarded a quality mark for international accommodation.
