Packing for your journey

Have a look at our suggestions about what to bring with you when you travel to us. We understand that you may be limited as to what you can bring with you to the UK so, when you get here, you’ll receive a free arrival pack, kitchen pack and bed pack. The arrival pack is useful if you arrive late at night and have nothing to eat. The kitchen and bed packs save you from bringing bulky items with you on the plane.

Arrival packs contain: a chocolate bar, a bag of crisps, a pot noodle, a bottle of water and a toilet roll

Kitchen starter packs contain: a large plate, a side plate, a mug, a glass and a set of cutlery for one

Bedding packs contain: a duvet, a duvet cover, a pillow, a pillowcase and a fitted sheet. We'll use the pack to make up your bed for you before you arrive

If you need additional items, you can order them from Unikitout and they will be waiting for you on arrival at your hall. Use the promotional code DERBY10 to get 10% discount when you order. Remember if you're coming from a country with a warm climate, you'll need to bring some warm clothes with you!

Most of our rooms have plenty of storage space with a wardrobe bookshelves and a desk. In addition, all the small double beds have under bed storage, ideal for big bags and suitcases.

Help settling in

Once you arrive, we go out of our way to help you settle in and our events programme will help you make new friends across the halls community. The Union of Students also has lots of opportunities for you to get involved in student life including joining one of the many student societies on offer, where you can meet people with similar hobbies and interests.
