Pete Allen, Computer Science, 1994
Pete Allen studied HND Computer Studies and is one half of the broadcasting duo Dino & Pete. They host the breakfast show, broadcasting to 300,000 listeners, on the Capital FM radio network across the East Midlands. Pete has worked for a number of East Midlands based radio stations including RAM FM, Century FM and now Capital FM.
After leaving one of the University of Derby progression partner schools, Anthony Gell School in Wirksworth, Pete chose the University as he lived in Derbyshire and wanted to stay at home whilst he studied which meant he saved on living costs.
While he was studying for his HND Computer Studies qualification, Pete volunteered for the local hospital radio station as he had ambitions to have a career in broadcasting. His experience of studying at Derby meant he met people from all walks of life which he feels has helped make him the broadcaster he is today.
