People Experience and Culture

During these competitive times, our students and customers are more demanding, and we need to be able to respond to ever-changing and often uncertain events. we believe the best way to deal with change is to ensure that all our people understand what the University is trying to achieve and how each individual has the potential to make a difference to overall performance. This approach lies at the heart of our People Strategy, which underpins the University Strategic Framework. The University of Derby's Strategic Framework sets out our long-term direction and aspirations for our institution, our staff, and our students. The Strategic Framework informs the development of our People Strategy which describes how we will meet our ambitious goals through the people we employ and others who work with us in helping us to deliver a world-class student experience.

Derby is a 'values led' organisation and our core values underpin our culture; a culture that is conducive to enabling people to give their very best. Equality, diversity and inclusion form an important part of our core values and our wellbeing agenda.

In People Experience and Culture (PEC), we support people-centric guidelines, procedures and approaches that allow the University to achieve its mission: great people, original thinking, inspiring individuals...changing lives. From recruitment, through to reward, our holistic approach to engagement, development and equal opportunities, the PEC mission is clearly aligned to making the University of Derby a great place to work and study.

People Experience and Culture is made up of the following core departments:

Human Resources including:

Talent, Culture and Inclusion

TCI's purpose is to evolve and grow the organisation and its people to be future fit, by embedding an inclusive culture to promote a positive employee experience and connect us to our university's purpose. TCI is an organisation development function in nature, and it creates alignment with the organisation's ambitions, strategy, and goals to improve overall performance. The outcome is a more agile and responsive organisation, more adept at change and more sustainable in a competitive landscape.
