Phil tells us what he does now
I'm the Managing Director and Owner of Fluid Ideas Limited. Born in a basement back in 2003, we've grown from two to twenty in a little over 12 years. Fluid is now an award-winning creative agency and we work with businesses we believe in, across the UK and beyond. We do everything we can to help our clients succeed, creating meaningful results made from ideas – the key element of our success is the fact we passionately belief in the power of ideas! We offer a blend of creative and digital marketing services, tailored to the needs of each client and stitched together with strategic nous.
How do you feel Derby has helped you with your career so far?
The course at Derby was unique in the sense that we were allowed limited access to computers to encourage us to concentrate on the "idea". This meant I left with a creative, yet commercial portfolio that demonstrated a good mix ideas which is important when you're going for a job interview. The lecturers on the course made sure I had the skills I needed for my career.
What are your future plans?
To establish Fluid as one of the UK’s top agencies, yet maintain and push our high standards and working ethos – making sure we keep our promise to our clients… that creativity, energy and integrity are at the heart of everything we do. We’ve recently refurbished Fluid HQ… After six months of seemingly endless demolition, sandblasting and building, April saw us move back into our lovely studio in the Darley Abbey Mills World Heritage Site. What would you say to anybody thinking of coming to study the course at Derby?
Derby is a great place to achieve your goals and, if you put your mind to it you can achieve anything, I know because I did.
How would you sum up the experience of studying this course?
It was a great three years of my life which I look back at with great fondness. The lecturers really helped with problem solving not giving you the solution, more giving you the tools to find the solution. Plus they were always there if you needed them.
