Research Professor in Criminology

As a Research Professor in Criminology, Stephen devotes most of his time to his own research interests (which include studying the impact of Thatcherism on crime and the criminal justice system, why people stop offending and the fear of crime), and helping colleagues develop their own research plans and careers. 

Mark Flint-Freel
Lecturer in Criminology

Mark is a former police officer, having served for 30 years in both the Metropolitan Police and Derbyshire Constabulary. His worked included close protection, self-defence and physical training, firearms and public order. He completed his service as head of Special Constables training and went on to develop the Specials training programme for the College of Policing.

He is actively involved in industrial projects, combining his knowledge, expertise and industrial experience in operations management to help organisations achieve excellence in their internal functions and supply chains.

Sayantan Ghosh Dastidar
Lecturer in Economics

Dr Ghosh Dastidar joined the University of Derby as a Lecturer in Economics in January 2016. Before joining here, he was working as a Research Assistant at the University of Huddersfield. Currently, he is the Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Economics for Business and the Subject Leader for Joint Honours Economics.
