As a Research Professor in Criminology, Stephen devotes most of his time to his own research interests (which include studying the impact of Thatcherism on crime and the criminal justice system, why people stop offending and the fear of crime), and helping colleagues develop their own research plans and careers. 

Mark Flint-Freel
Lecturer in Criminology

Mark is a former police officer, having served for 30 years in both the Metropolitan Police and Derbyshire Constabulary. His worked included close protection, self-defence and physical training, firearms and public order. He completed his service as head of Special Constables training and went on to develop the Specials training programme for the College of Policing.

Olivia Fortune is a technical instructor for restaurant and food service operations and part of the Culinary Team. When she is training students she ensures they learn all the skills necessary to the highest standard in order to carry them into future careers.

As a Researcher in Low Carbon Economy, Dr Bruno Gallotta is part of the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) Low Carbon Business Network, which aims to accelerate the adoption of eco-friendly, low carbon and green products and services in key supply chains across the D2N2 local enterprise partnership area - Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Senior Lecturer in Criminology

Dr Soenita Ganpat is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology. Soenita's area of expertise is in homicide and she gained her doctorate in Criminology at Leiden University (The Netherlands) where she examined violence, with a focus on homicide.
