Derek is the Senior Technician for the Outdoor Leadership and Adventure Sports Coaching Degree Programmes. He works at Oaklands Manor in Buxton, delivering practical coaching and theoretical sessions, maintaining equipment and managing the logistics for the staffing and transport required for the practical sessions, fieldwork days and residential trips.

Before joining the University in 2019 Jon had a long career in the music industry, working as a sound engineer, primarily in live concert touring. Since joining the University of Derby Jon now teaches on the BSc (Hons) in Sound, Light and Live Event Technology as well as the MSc in Audio Engineering.

Dr Chris Bussell is the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the College of Life and Natural Sciences, which is composed of the School of Human Sciences and the School of Environmental Sciences. Chris's academic field is in human physiology, with particular focus on responses and adaptation to high performance and health outcomes arising through increased participation in physical activity.

As a senior lecturer in performance analysis, Dr. Butterworth designs and delivers innovative and engaging content using industry standard contemporary technologies. He has extensive applied international experience as a performance analyst, translating this knowledge to the classroom for a student learning experience that is grounded in practicality and usefulness in the real world.
