Here at the University of Derby we are committed to becoming a true ‘Civic University’ and to support this we are currently developing a Civic University Agreement.

A Civic University Agreement is a document that a university creates with the help of its local and regional partners. The agreement should show that the University understands its role, and the needs and priorities of its community, city and county. It should show how the University intends to work with organisations, businesses and community groups with a clear set of priorities to address those needs. Illustrating how the University will link up effectively with local authorities, enterprise partnerships and with the local industrial strategy is important too.

Before we establish what we are going to do, and to ensure the impact we make is long-term and sustainable, we first need to understand what the real needs of the city and county are.

Join staff and students from the University of Derby for the first ‘Derby Civic Forum’. An event designed to provide you with the opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas on how the University can help to support Derby and Derbyshire, what the real needs and priorities are, and how we can work most effectively with you to make a positive impact.

Key areas of focus and topics for the discussions will be Education, Socio-cultural, Economy, Environment and Health and Wellbeing.

We would value your contribution towards helping us to achieve our ambitions of becoming a true Civic University and look forward to welcoming you to our event.
