This free to attend workshop brings together all the key players in the regional funding landscape to discuss what they each have to offer to support business innovation and growth in the region.

With senior representatives from the British Business Bank, Innovate UK, and local specialist finance providers, this is your opportunity to understand more about what is available for regional businesses and other organisations that work in partnership with business and to engage with them.

This unique event brings the heart of UK government to Derby with the aim of gaining new insights into the UK SME Financing landscape.

Ken is responsible for the design and delivery of a range of British Business Bank programmes that support the flow of venture investment into smaller UK businesses.

Julian is responsible for the region on behalf of Innovate UK which funds and supports science and technology ideas that benefit the economy.

Marc will discuss new research that helps us understand more about what investment options are available to UK businesses and what their options for financing their opportunities are.

Panel Discussion and Audience Q & A (chaired by Aaron Baker)

Aaron joined BGF in June 2013, and is now based in Nottingham with a focus on the wider East Midlands. He is involved in the full spectrum of the BGF process, from origination and transaction, through to working with the management teams of investee companies post-investment. He has been involved in almost 20 new and follow-on investments across the Midlands since joining BGF, totalling over £100m of investment capital.

Directions to the venue

The workshop will be held at the University of Derby's Enterprise Centre. Located in the heart of the East Midlands, our venue is just minutes from Derby train station and only a short distance from the M1 and East Midlands Airport.

By Car - For driving directions to our venue, view our PDF of our Enterprise Centre directions. Free on-site parking is available however this is limited. We will be in touch closer the date of the event to give you an opportunity to secure an on-site parking space.

By Rail - The closest train station is Derby train station; this is approximately 2.5 miles from the Enterprise Centre and will take 10-15 minutes in a taxi. Alternatively, you can catch the Number 6 Unibus which departs from outside the main entrance of the train station and will take you to the Bridge Street bus stop directly outside the venue - this service starts at 8am and a single trip will cost £2. View bus timetables.

By Air - The closest airport is East Midlands, located just 15 miles from the Enterprise Centre. This should take around 25 minute by car. Alternatively Derby Skylink operate a 24 hours bus service, picking up directly outside the terminal building and dropping off at Derby Bus Station. This service runs every 30 minutes during the day and hourly during the night, seven days a week and takes approximately 40 minutes.
