Biodiversity Action Plan

On our campuses, we have already put in place no-mow areas, wildflower areas, insect hotels, beehives, bird boxes and even green roofs and green walls. However, we know there is much more we can do.

We have created a list of actions for each site to improve biodiversity and encourage wildlife onto our campuses. These actions are reviewed on a quarterly basis and include:

• Increasing 'no mow' and wildflower areas on all of our sites
• Increasing bird and bat boxes
• Ensuring biodiversity is considered as part of all future developments
• Encouraging the use of our campuses for research and teaching purposes 
• Creating a sensory garden on the Buxton site
• Raising awareness of our biodiversity initiatives with staff, students and visitors
