Biodiversity Action Plan

On our campuses, we have already put in place no-mow areas, wildflower areas, insect hotels, beehives, bird boxes and even green roofs and green walls. However, we know there is much more we can do.

We have created a list of actions for each site to improve biodiversity and encourage wildlife onto our campuses. These actions are reviewed on a quarterly basis and include:

Hedgehog Friendly Campus

A group of students, supported by staff, are working hard to achieve the 'Hedgehog Friendly Campus' award. This is an award run nationally by 'Students Organising for Sustainability UK'. In order to achieve this, the following measures will be put in place:

Derby University have recently joined the Hedgehog Friendly Campus Campaign, a project funded by The British Hedgehog Preservation Society.
