Student and staff engagement

Students and staff participate in the Students' Union's green committee and the University's Environmental Steering Group.

In September 2016, we ran our second annual Nature Connections Festival. The Festival provided a forum for sharing and learning from the latest research and practice in nature connection and also helped people to develop a common understanding of the role of nature connection, for example in well-being and pro-environmental behaviour.

On-campus Student Growing Space

Rooted is an on-campus student outdoor study space and biodiversity area designed to give staff and students new opportunities to engage with gardening. The project is accessible and open to all, and aims to provide opportunities to get outdoors and improve physical and mental health.

Rooted is a partnership project involving the University's Student Wellbeing team, the Chaplaincy and the Students' Union. It is on University-owned land.
