Dr Alice Doherty, Academic lead for psychology, is a multidisciplinary teacher with varied teaching experience in a range of subjects including Psychology and English as a Foreign Language.

Claire began working for the University of Derby in 2011 in the campus Psychology team. Following maternity leave Claire returned to work as a Remote Lecturer in Psychology for UDOL in 2016. Claire's areas of interest and expertise lie within the areas of Health and Clinical Psychology.

Lecturer in Psychology, Melanie Haughton, has worked in education since 2000. Melanie has worked as a Higher Education Learning Mentor, she has also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Lancaster University and as an Associate Academic at the University of Derby.

Lecturer in Psychology, Sophie Jackson joined the University of Derby in April 2019 having previously worked as a teaching assistant at The University of West London and as a research assistant at Goldsmiths, University of London and Canterbury Christ Church University.

Academic Lead in Counselling, Yasuhiro Kotera, has been Academic Lead for online Counselling and Psychotherapy courses since 2014 and has been researching into mental health and neuro-linguistic programming.

Lecturer in Psychology, Garrett Moran, has over 30 years’ experience of teaching psychology to A’ level, undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has also worked with a number of organisations identifying sources of stress and providing intervention frameworks to promote a healthier organisation.

Lecturer in Psychology, Dr Laura Rayment, previously worked in prison psychology and was involved in research into the treatment of criminal psychopaths. In 2014, Laura began working for the University of Derby Online Learning as an Associate Academic on a range of Undergraduate modules, and is currently a Lecturer in Psychology.

Hettie joined the University of Derby in May 2020. She gained her PhD in Psychology at the University of Lincoln in 2013 exploring the impact of simulated hearing loss on executive function, namely; impulsivity, sustained attention and working memory. 

Lecturer in Psychology, Jessica Runacres, previously worked in the private healthcare sector before beginning a PhD at Birmingham City University in health/social psychology.

Academic Lead in Psychology, Dr Sophie Williams is a chartered psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS). Sophie's research interests lie in women’s health and long-term conditions, her research particularly focuses on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and quality of life.
