About

I have over 30 years’ experience of teaching psychology to A’ level, undergraduate and postgraduate students. After completing an MSc in Occupational Psychology at the University of Nottingham, I helped to develop a new distance learning MSc in Occupational Psychology at the University of Leicester. I was granted Honorary Lecturer status before becoming a Tutor-practitioner. My responsibilities included being a module writer, external marker, conference presenter, personal tutor, dissertation supervisor, and a period as the Departmental Ethics Officer. I worked as an Associate Academic at Aston University where I taught and developed courses in Social Psychology, Occupational Training as well as Statistics and Research Methods to undergraduates. I have also worked at Coventry University where I developed and taught an Employability module while also working on their online MSc in Occupational Psychology for which I developed a new module in Human Factors. I am a part-time Lecturer at the University of Derby for online courses in Cyberpsychology and Organisational Psychology.

I have worked with a number of organisations identifying sources of stress and providing intervention frameworks to promote a healthier organisation. My work has also involved providing internet resources for publishers of market leading educational textbooks. I am an External Expert in Psychology for Ofqual and have worked for the Welsh Government to conduct similar work in reviewing new A’ Level specifications in Psychology.

Research interests

My research interests include all aspects of Occupational Psychology but particularly Human Factors, Training and Development as well as Stress and Wellbeing within the educational sector.

Additional interests and activities

My personal interests are varied though they tend to be concentrated on sporting activities either as a spectator and not playing so much now. I play badminton and enjoy all racket sports. I have a keen interest in current and local affairs possibly due to having spent most of my life in Leicester. I enjoy Leicester's cultural diversity and plan to take greater advantage of this, time and family permitting.
