Volleyball

The men’s and women’s volleyball programme provides a fantastic environment for new and experienced players to compete and train. Players have the opportunity to compete at a high level in the British University and College Sports (BUCS) and are coached by a former professional player.

Team Derby Performance Volleyball

Team Derby Volleyball is partnered with Darkstar, Derby’s National League club with both men’s and women’s teams. It is coached by Olympian and Head Coach of the London 2012 Great Britain Volleyball team, Audrey Cooper, and 2012 Olympian and current England Coach, Maria Bertelli. These great connections give our players opportunities for further training and competing at a senior level.

Head Coach: Viktoriya Glazewska

With 20 years of playing experience, Viktoriya has now turned her attention to coaching. She was a member of the national team of Belarus, competed in the European Championships and played six years in the Russian League. She says: 

“Volleyball is my life and I started my coaching career because I want to pass my volleyball knowledge and experience to the next generations. I am excited for this new challenge with Team Derby.”

How I became an international sports scholar

Weronika is an MSc Marketing Management graduate and volleyball scholar from Poland. It wasn't until after starting university that she recognised her passion and aspirations for the sport.
