Introduction from the Vice-Chancellor

What follows provides an introduction to the University’s regulations, policies and procedures for students, which together constitute your “Rights, Responsibilities and Regulations”. The regulations apply to all taught programmes leading to awards of the University. Programmes leading to awards of external bodies may be subject to the rules and regulations of those external bodies.

The information is structured to be comprehensive yet easy to use. It may be a lot to take in at one time but you should ensure you know how to navigate through it.

However careful we are there are times when it may be necessary for the University to change its regulations. If this happens we consult students as appropriate, and try to keep them fully informed. We assure you that students will not be disadvantaged by any change(s) introduced during their programme of study.

We continually seek ways of improving and we encourage student feedback, through both formal and informal mechanisms. We look to you to help us deliver a better service by talking to us and making us aware of your experiences. Together we can effect changes to improve the overall student experience.

Staff and students are asked to make sure they are familiar with these regulations, policies and procedures. Ensure that you keep an eye on the website. It is here where you will find the most up to date information.

The Academic Regulations define the framework within which teaching and assessment will be conducted, and the various policies and procedures are designed to safeguard your interests. In all they are part of the University’s apparatus to ensure we achieve the twin objectives of maintaining the standards of awards and doing justice to each student.
