Student support

Life as a student is exciting and fun, but it can also feel daunting at times – particularly if you have a disability, long-term condition, or are responsible for looking after others. We offer a range of services to support you during your application and when you start studying with us.

Supporting your health and wellbeing

We have experienced wellbeing teams at Derby and Buxton who provide a free and confidential service to all students, and sometimes applicants. If you’re based at Chesterfield, you can contact our Buxton Wellbeing team.

These teams can support you face-to-face, over the phone or online with a range of issues, including:

There’s also a GP surgery on-campus in Derby (Kedleston Road site) and plenty of local GPs in Buxton and Chesterfield.

If you live with a non-visible disability, it can be hard to communicate your need for special requirements in a quick way. We want to help our students and staff overcome this challenge, and are introducing the sunflower badge to the University.
