National Career Education and Learning Conference 2018

The first National Careers Education and Learning Conference, jointly run by the Career Development Institute and the International Centre for Guidance Studies at the University of Derby.

The major theme for the conference was to help schools and colleges to achieve the Gatsby Benchmarks and each of the four plenary sessions and 16 supporting workshops addressed different aspects of the benchmarks.

The conference had the the Gatsby Benchmarks as its main focus and delegates focused on:

  • Understanding the link between the Gatsby Benchmarks and the statutory requirements for career guidance
  • Learning more about quality assurance through the Compass tool and Quality in Careers Standard
  • Sharing and discussing ideas for innovation and implementation within career guidance
