This ISEND Research Cluster symposium (University of Derby) is suitable for all those interested in education, and in particular those who are focused on LGBT+ inclusion in UK secondary schools.

Description

In this symposium, Adam will share the findings from his doctoral research which, through photo elicitation, explored how LGBT+ secondary school teachers experience their environments. The findings show the range of ways that heteronormativity is produced, and thus questions are raised regarding the ways LGBT+ people navigate their visibility within these spaces.

The research led to the founding of the Pride & Progress network; this network is designed to support teachers to make their schools LGBT+ inclusive spaces. The network has grown to include a podcast and book which will also be discussed at the symposium.
