1st Chellaston Rainbows, New Group

Background

1st Chellaston Rainbows are based in a busy Derby suburb, where there is a long waiting list to join the Girlguiding group for girls aged 5-7. In Easter 2015 they decided to open a new Rainbows pack to allow more young girls to join, however the group needed new equipment and resources.

How did the Community Fund help?

After applying to the Community Fund, 1st Chellaston Rainbows were awarded £250 to cover the costs of setting up the new group.

Rachel Couchman, Leader of 1st Chellaston Rainbows, said: "Being awarded the Derby University Community fund is amazing. Being a new unit we need all of the essentials to make the running of the unit not only safe but fun for the 15 girls we currently have, such as first aid kits and, of course, glitter! We are truly grateful as the funds have allowed us to free up money and we are now able to offer our rainbows their first Girlguiding experience outside of our meeting place.

"Thank you so much from 1st Chellaston Rainbows"
