Markeaton Street Workshops

The workshops at Markeaton Street include a motorsport workshop, mechanical and manufacturing engineering workshop, wood workshop, metal workshop and crafts workshop.

The Markeaton Street workshops are used for subject areas such as Architectural Technologies and Interior Architecture, Built Environments, Mechanical and Manufacturing EngineeringMotorsport Engineering and Art and Design.

  • Motorsport workshop: This space also has a classroom and a computer lab. We have a great relationship with Toyota who have given us a number of engines to work on. The workshop has numerous vehicles for students to work on including a Radical SR1 and Formula 4 car
  • Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering workshop: This area contains both traditional lathes and milling machines alongside more modern CNC equipment. You’ll use the area to gain hands-on experience machining parts. Motorsport Engineering students also use this area to make their own engine parts
  • Wood workshop: Used across courses including applied arts, fine art, product design, and architecture for model making
  • Metal workshop: Used across courses including applied arts, fine art, product design, and architecture for model making
  • Crafts workshop: For a range of materials, including, wood, plastic. It also has a separate welding bay. Used by crafts students, product design students as well as others
