Chris Bell is the Senior Learning Technologist for Digital Practice within the University of Derby's Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching.

Learning Technology Media Adviser

As a Learning Technology Media Advisor, Matthew Gilooly seeks to enhance media used within teaching. This can be through content created for staff and students, as well as making bespoke content ranging from Creative High Quality video to 360 VR and Augmented Reality content.

As a Learning Teachnology Media Adviser, Charlotte supports academic staff across the university to embed technology into the teaching and increase the student experience. The work she has completed has won a number awards both internally and externally.

As Administrative Officer (Academic & Student Experience - A&SE), Richard manages a support team that has a focus on supporting key areas of Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching activity and initiatives. In addition, he manages communications and support for the wider A&SE portfolio.

As the University's Head of Digital Learning, John Hill works in partnership with staff and students to embed and support the development digital learning. John leads and develops University-wide strategies and policies to ensure students have the highest quality digital learning experience whilst studying.

Dr Sammar Javed is a senior lecturer in Business and Management with Derby Business School. Her 12 years’ experience in UK Higher Education mainly within business schools completing interdisciplinary projects, exceeding the target levels despite of challenges.

Head of Civic and Communities

Professor Rhiannon Jones FRSA leads the University’s civic strategy and CivicLAB. She chairs Cumulus’ International Contemporary Working Art Group, is a UNESCO UK Learning Cities Stakeholder, PASCAL Associate, and Trustee for Bolton Gate Arts Farm and New Art Exchange. She is founding CEO of Designing Dialogue CIC, touring the award-winning S.H.E.D. 

Melanie Pope
Associate Professor of Learning and Teaching

Melanie has worked in the UK education sector for 24 years, in secondary education, FE and HE, and with national bodies on curriculum and qualification reform. Melanie is Associate Professor of Learning and Teaching and works with colleagues across the university to support the development of excellent and innovative practice in learning and teaching, particularly in pedagogic research.
