National Research Conference for Careers Practitioners - "What Difference Does Research Make?"

This annual event is brought to you in partnership with the CDI, iCeGS, AGCAS and NICEC. This year's theme is 'What Difference Does Research Make?' with a particular focus on how research helps to measure impact, contribute to policy decisions and inform practice.

Many people see research as something undertaken by academics. However, we want to inspire all career development practitioners to develop their confidence, undertake research, develop the evidence base and contribute to the professionalisation of the sector. We want you to celebrate your research and talk about how this has informed your and others' practice.

The programme

Our programme is intended to be presented mainly by practitioners, for practitioners. It aims to encourage those interested in and enthusiastic to undertake research but perhaps lack confidence. The conference will be held online using Hopin, and we will be inviting international colleagues and delegates to join us.

The online programme will include the following:
• Two keynote presentations on research relevant to career development from Sareena Hopkins (Executive Director, Canadian Career Development Foundation) and Chris Percy (Strategy and Policy Consultant, CSP Resources)
• Two panels of practitioner-researchers – representing research from the UK and internationally
• A range of parallel seminars led by practitioners
• Poster session.* See below for details

BOOK YOUR PLACE

Audience

Career development practitioners work with young people and adults, including career advisers, career consultants and coaches, careers leaders, and researchers.

Invitation to present a research poster

The poster session at this conference is a space for dialogue: for practitioner researchers to present a summary of their work and for conference delegates to gain an overview of various current or recent research projects.

The poster session at this conference is a space for dialogue: for practitioner researchers to present a summary of their work and for conference delegates to gain an overview of various current or recent research projects.

Career practitioners and students engaged in research of any type are invited to present a poster at this conference. There are many benefits in doing this:

•    Tell people about your research
•    Gain interest and feedback
•    Engage in useful discussion and maybe collaboration
•    Share your findings and prepare for wider dissemination

You can be at any stage of the research process, so your poster might cover anything from early plans for the methodology or literature review right through to the findings and analysis of a near-complete research project. The aim is to inform and inspire other potential practitioner-researchers.

The conference team offers a guide to preparing your poster and will provide a training session on using the digital platform for this conference. We will also invite you to create a short three-minute video talking about your poster, which will be available on the Hopin conference platform (though this will not be a requirement).
