In their final year, students complete the Independent Study and Professional Development module, conducting research into an area of interest and producing a written piece of work with their findings.

This year, topics include improving surfboards with innovative materials and additive manufacturing methods, active control of the climate in a neonatal intensive care unit, and creating a safer lightweight ramp to be used between a train and platform.
