If you work for a small-to-medium-sized enterprise (SME) based in Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire, you could benefit from these new, fully funded short courses. They aim to improve people’s data skills and wider STEM knowledge (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

Fully funded courses

The ‘Branch out in STEM’ programme is fully funded, meaning there’s no cost to your organisation. This is possible thanks to funding from the European Social Fund and the delivery partners, which include the University of Derby, Nottingham Trent University, Derby College, Nottingham College, East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, Enable, Inspire and the Workers’ Educational Association.

Programme overview

The world of business is rapidly evolving and ensuring staff have the most up to date skills is essential in keeping up with these changes. Advancements in technology and the working environment have meant digital, analytical and problem-solving skills have become increasingly important.

The University of Derby is offering fully funded short courses to help refresh and update these skills within your organisation. They will cover topics such as:

  • Numeracy and statistics skills for adding value to business data
  • Data storage
  • Governance, auditing and the legal aspect of data management
  • Gathering data
  • Cleaning data
  • Processing and analysing data
  • Visualising data
  • Impact of data insights.

What does it cost to attend?

The programme is fully funded for eligible participants, meaning there is no cost to your organisation.

Am I eligible to participate?

To participate in the programme, you must meet the funding criteria requirements. This means you must work for a small or medium-sized business within the Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire (D2N2) region. Alternatively, you could be self-employed and registered as a sole trader within the D2N2 region.
