Upcoming courses

You could benefit from these new, fully funded short courses if you work for a small-to-medium-sized enterprise (SME) based in Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire. They aim to improve people’s data skills and further STEM knowledge (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

The ‘Branch out in STEM’ programme offers fully-funded courses, meaning there’s no cost to the participant. This is possible thanks to funding from the European Social Fund and the delivery partners, which include the University of Derby, Nottingham Trent University, Derby College, Nottingham College, East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, Enable, Inspire and the Workers’ Educational Association.

Programme overview

The world of business is rapidly evolving and ensuring staff have the most up-to-date skills is essential in keeping up with these changes. Advancements in technology and the working environment have meant digital, analytical and problem-solving skills have become increasingly important.

The University of Derby is offering fully-funded short courses to help you refresh and update these skills with the aim of boosting broader STEM knowledge for participants and workplace skills. They will cover topics such as:

What does it cost to attend?

The courses are fully funded for eligible participants, meaning there is no cost to the participant. The Branch Out in STEM project is part-funded by the European Social Fund.

Am I eligible to participate?

To participate in the programme, you must meet the funding criteria requirements. This means you must work for a small or medium-sized business within the Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire (D2N2) region. Alternatively, you could be self-employed and registered as a sole trader within the D2N2 region.
