Support for service children

Midland's Service Children's Progression (SCiP) Alliance Hub

The University of Derby is proud to be part of the Midlands SCiP Alliance Hub, a new partnership of universities focused on bringing military families and education providers together to improve educational outcomes for children and military families. The Hub forms a support network and hosts regular free events, with the aim to help children make informed decisions and confident transitions through school, further education and higher education into thriving adults and their careers. Our Hub aims to work with individual families, schools and the local community facing unique challenges with confidence and aspirations for the future. 

On the 7 January, we launched the Midlands Hub at Harper Adams University with an event attended by 100 children from Forces families. The children found out what further education and higher education is and how it can support their future career paths.

The University of Derby has signed The Armed Forces Covenant - a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
