Dr Sally Akehurst is Head of School of Human Sciences which consists of three Discipline Areas including: Biomedical and Forensic Science; Psychology, and Sport, Outdoor and Exercise Science.

Lecturer in Exercise Physiology

As a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Physiology, Dr Ashton teaches on physiology and health related modules at all levels withing the department of Sport, Outdoor and Exercise Sciences. Her research interests surround promoting exercise as part of the treatment pathways of various health disorders such as cancer and cardiovascular disease.

Senior Lecturer in Ergonomics and Psychology - Programme Lead MSc Behaviour Change

As a Senior Lecturer in Psychology, Andrew has been involved in the development of pioneering MSc programmes in Behaviour Change and Ergonomics/Human Factors.  He is Programme Lead for the MSc Behaviour Change programme and teaches primarily at masters-level.  His applied research activities have most recently been centred on driver behaviour.

Senior Lecturer in Forensic Biology

Kate Barnes is a Lecturer in Forensic Biology and teaches on the Forensic Science, Biology and Zoology undergraduate programmes. She researches within the field of Forensic Ecology and is currently exploring insect-microbe interactions in the corpse environment and assessing the effect of environmental conditions on blow fly behaviour.

James is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Management with over 18 years of experience teaching within further and higher education. He mainly teaches on applied modules that look at how business principles, such as finance and strategic management, can be applied to sport.

David is based in the Department of Biological and Forensic Science, School of Human Sciences, College of Life and Natural Sciences. His teaching and research covers Anatomy, Forensic Anthropology and Photography.

As a senior lecturer in performance analysis, Dr. Butterworth designs and delivers innovative and engaging content using industry standard contemporary technologies. He has extensive applied international experience as a performance analyst, translating this knowledge to the classroom for a student learning experience that is grounded in practicality and usefulness in the real world.
