Digital portfolio guidance

Once you have made an application to the University of Derby you are required to submit an online portfolio for the following courses:

A portfolio is your opportunity to show us who you are, your creative ability and your potential.

Your portfolio should demonstrate your best work, be of high-quality, scanned or digital work in a PDF format sent using the on-line application form below.

The content of the portfolio should be the strongest examples of your work, and should contain a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 20 pieces; file size under 25MB is essential.

Your PDF portfolio will be reviewed by course academics who may then contact you for further examples of your work/information if necessary. If a portfolio is not suitable for the course you have applied for you may be asked to attend an interview and/or be considered for a similar course of interest including the Year Zero.

Skills we would like to see evidenced in your portfolio:

  1. A high standard of presentation
  2. Evidence of creative thinking
  3. Willingness to experiment
  4. Evidence of problem-solving
  5. Evidence that you’re passionate about the subject

If you have applied for BA (Hons) Animation or BA (Hons) Visual Effects and Post Production you will be required to submit a showreel.
