Interviews and Auditions

Once you have applied for a course in the School of Arts you will be invited to attend an interview or audition. This is your chance to show us your interests and ambitions but also for you to ask questions about the University of Derby and to see if we are right for you. You're welcome to bring a guest, and refreshments will be available.

Students applying to the School of Arts come to us with a wide range of skills and experiences which are relevant to an exciting career in the creative industries. So here at Derby, we don’t judge applications just on predicted grades. We are keen to find out about their aspirations, creative talents and interests so we invite applicants to an interview where we can discuss their application and tailor our offer specifically to them and their skills.

What to expect on the day

Once you have completed and sent off your UCAS form we will review your application then invite you to interview. You are welcome to bring a guest, and refreshments will be available on the day. The majority of interviews will last around 20-30 minutes.

Your interview experience is an exciting opportunity to show teaching staff your passion for the subject.  So come prepared. We will be asking you questions about your experience, interests and passion for the subject. We are looking for students who really enjoy their chosen subject and can display some talent for the subject.
