Using this website

The iVent platform on the domain online-event.co is run by Virtual iVent Ltd, trading as iVent, on behalf of the University of Derby. We want as many people as possible to be able to use the site and are committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. iVent builds each instance of the domain bespoke to each client ensuring that:

How accessible is our website? 

We understand some parts of this website are not fully accessible due to the nature of it being a platform. However, this is a permanent work in progress, as new features are developed with accessibility at the forefront of design:

The University of Derby and iVent are committed to making the website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

The Content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The text will not re–flow in a single column when you change the size of the browser window. This doesn't meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.10 (reflow). 

You cannot modify the line height or spacing of text. This doesn't meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.12 (text spacing).

Some elements of the platform are not easily accessible using keyboard only navigation. This doesn't meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.1.1 (keyboard).

You cannot skip to every separate virtual space when using a screen reader. This doesn't meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.3 (focus order).

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Live video

Our live video streams don't have captions. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.2.4 (captions live). Live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations. This is in development, however, and there are some third party applications that a client can utilise to enable these. On demand videos can have captions applied.
