Cycling pathway - Beeston Cycling Club

We build champions on and off the bike

As a successful and proven cycle racing club that develops talented riders to reach their elite cycling goals, Beeston Cycling Club are delighted to have partnered with the University of Derby to be your cycling delivery partner of the FdA Athlete Professional Development course. They will ensure that their racing expertise and experience will enable you to be the best you can be, on and off the bike!

Beeston Cycling Club (BCC) Race Team is one of eight UK elite senior teams competing in the 2025 British Cycling National Road Race Series. Competing at the highest level of racing in the UK and abroad positions BCC Race Team at the pinnacle of our pyramid of excellence. Supported by our Beeston Cycling Club Academy pathway our aspiring racers can grow and learn their sport to be ready to race at the top level, whilst being further mentored by a select group of highly experienced senior riders.

Putting you at the centre of excellence

A racing team built around you!

Each week you will have your own training and race craft programme delivered by experts in their field who are coaching and racing at national level in season 2025. The University Performance Team and BCC Race Team will work closely to develop a strong and robust road training group that enables you to benefit from a unique team environment. Building up to National events and BUCS track championships there will be joint track sessions where both groups will train together to support your development and racing ambitions.

Realising your racing ambitions and beyond

The FdA Athlete Professional Development programme will support your elite level cycling goals and your classroom studies will give you the opportunity to develop your own professional sports career beyond cycling. We have developed a well balanced training programme that is built around your studies with a weekly timetable of training rides, gym sessions and track sessions. As you grow and develop your racing craft from this course you can transfer your skills and experience as you race for your own team. Included in the FdA course is an extensive support programme of workshops, testing injury, psychology and performance lifestyle, that will enhance your wider cycling development.

Be your best with the best!

Bryan Steel, multi-Olympic and World medallist is embedded within the University of Derby as Head Coach of their Cycling Performance Programme and has been our Director of Sport at BCC Race Team since our inception. Bryan developed and will deliver on the cycling element of the FdA programme and he will harness the brilliant coaching staff and support network of our BCC Race Team and the University Sports Network to work together to make sure you achieve your full cycling potential throughout your time at the university and for your career afterward.

Our purpose
We are driven to do things better and win the right way.

Our Vision
Develop and build a positive partnership culture with the cycling community and British Cycling to enable racing to thrive. Develop and shape a sustainable model for generations to come, delivering the highest quality racing, supported by a unique educational pathway.

Our Mission
Create a new sustainable model, bringing partners together and race as a supportive collective working towards delivering on our vision, creating a paradigm shift from the old models of the British scene to develop new relationship driven methods of ensuring value to all our partners and stakeholders.

Our Values

Beeston Cycling Club, where it all started

Club Information
Beeston Cycling Club is all about it's members. We believe in bringing people together who have a common interest - cycling! Our focus is on enabling people to connect with each other to arrange their own rides, talk about cycling (and non-cycling) topics and trade gear. We have a fantastic brand and history and want to continue being part of the community here in the Beeston area!

Building from a club cycling culture to performance driven elite racing
Like many clubs that venture into racing, their structure and culture normally is focused around racing an add on to their general club activities. This can result in limitations based on individual riders personal interests.

100% focused on racing
Recognising that to offer a professionally focused racing pathway, Beeston CC needed to develop and put in place a robust infrastructure model to build a sustainable pathway that develops and supports young (u14yrs) talented riders to progress up to elite senior racing.

We are more than just a successful Academy and Elite racing team.

Using the power of cycling we believe that forging partnerships with charities and educational organisations will help us leave a positive and lasting impact on our communities. #RacingForPositiveChange
