To avoid any problems making a payment, please refer to the following checklist:

  • Can your card be used for international payments? Your payment might be declined if there is a restriction.
  • Is there a maximum limit on your card for payments? Check to ensure your payment does not exceed any credit limit which could cause your payment to fail.
  • Have you checked the exchange rate from your home currency into Pound Sterling (GBP/£)? This will vary on a daily basis, affecting the amount you have to pay in your home currency.
  • Does your card provider charge any additional fees for international payments? If you have multiple cards, you may wish to use the one with the lowest fees.

If you are not sure of any of the above points on the checklist, it is beneficial for you to contact your card provider in the first instance informing them of the transaction you are about to make.
