Expert teaching

We're very proud to be rated Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF 2017) and 13th for teaching quality in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019.

Our lecturers have a wealth of industry experience, with many still working part-time in their chosen field so their skills are up to date and reflect latest developments in their area.

Many of our expert teaching staff are actively involved in ground-breaking research, and we’ve invested in a new generation of Research Centres harnessing the latest thinking to support businesses, local authorities and industry both on our doorstep and around the world.

We also have a greater staff to student ratio than most other universities, guaranteeing you more dedicated time from your lecturers and the one-to-one support you need.

Expert teaching with you in mind

Our lecturers combine great subject knowledge with industry experience, and they're all committed to getting the best out of you. Don’t take our word for it though – here’s what our students think.

“The lecturers test your practical and mental abilities to the maximum; there is never a ‘dull’ lecturer and everyone is enlightening and inspiring.” Andy Heyes, BA (Hons) International Hospitality Management

“One lecturer in particular inspired me. She was endlessly knowledgeable in the modules she taught and would frequently spark debate on topics which questioned human nature.” David Jackson, BA (Hons) Outdoor Leadership and Management

"The lecturers gave us insight into a range of opportunities, but also empowered us to take on any task without hesitation.“ Rebecca Handley, BA (Hons) International Tourism Management
