About

I am the programme lead for the BA (Hons) Sport Management, partnership lead for programmes at Derby and Boston College and subject lead for Joint Honours Scheme Sport and Exercise Studies.  I have been the lead on all quality matters in the discipline area for a number of years.

Teaching responsibilities

I lead the Introduction to Sport Management, Advanced Sport Management in Practice 1, Advanced Sport Management in Practice 2 and Contemporary Issues in Sport Management and Development modules,  I am also an Independent Studies in Sport and Exercise supervisor and act as a personal academic tutor to students across all three years of the Sport Management undergraduate programme. 

Professional interests

I am passionate about embedding real-world learning in modules.  This has taken the form of live assessment briefs and practical assessments.  I am also keen to enable students to access key people in the industry such as CEOs and business owners as a means of developing their contacts and careers in the sport management industry.

I have delivered a number of Learning Lunches at the University sharing best practice in areas of learning, teaching and assessment.  For example. I have shared my expertise on approaches to personal tutoring. designing live assessment briefs and delivering peer assessment.  

I enjoy all forms of external engagement including taking the lead role in liaising with our partners at Derby College and Boston College.  I also enjoy leading on quality matters within the sport, outdoor and exercise team.

Research interests

Approaches to Learning, Teaching and Assessment in Sport, Outdoor and Exercise Sciences, the College of Life and Natural Sciences, the University of Derby and across the Higher Education sector.

Membership of professional bodies

Within previous roles I have been a member of the Institute for Sport and Recreation Management; Secretary of the East Midlands Region of the Institute for Sport and Recreation Management; Regional Service Award East Midlands Region of the Institute for Sport and Recreation Management (excellence of service to the region); Vice President of East Midlands Region of the Institute for Sport and Recreation Management and Regional Service Award; President of the East Midlands Region of the Institute for Sport and Recreation Management; Conference CPD attendance.
