About

I have over 45 years’ experience in manufacturing and supply chain having been employed in global companies such as GKN, Alstom, AREVA, Schneider Electric, Massey Ferguson and the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS). I have striven to constantly develop my skills and knowledge around the development and implementation of improvement projects designed to enhance the profitability of companies.

On a professional basis, I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) and hold the level of MCIPS Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional. I am also a CIPS Examination Assessor and CIPS Examination Question Author.

During my time in industry, I assisted a number of organisations in developing and improving their manufacturing and supply chain/purchasing functions in order to help them succeed in meeting their corporate strategic objectives.

I have worked with a number of organisations at a strategic level to design and implement business strategies. Supporting the development of a culture of innovation, helping businesses generate new product ideas and market opportunities, reduce waste to maximise productivity and profitability in their business.

Teaching responsibilities

I am Module Leader for several modules on the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) programme which is the professional qualification for procurement professionals.

I also teach a number of undergraduate and postgraduate subjects in logistics and supply chain management.

Professional interests

My main area of research is how the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data in the upstream Supply Chain to improve the forecasting and business performance of SME’s in the UK.

Research interests

My main area of interest is in the use of Artificial Intelligence and how it can be applied in the fields of Logistics and Supply Chain.

Experience in industry

An experienced professional specialising in Supply Chain Improvements, Manufacturing Productivity Improvements and the implementation of Lean practices with over 45 years experience within SME and global companies, in sectors such as automotive, ceramics, aerospace and, gereal engineering.

Additional interests and activities

I am a member of the National Field Archery Society (NFAS) which is a British organisation that exists to foster and promote field archery as a sport. The style of bow I shoot is the English Longbow similar to what was used by English archers in the Battle of Agincourt and by the fictional character Robin Hood.
