About

I am a second-year postgraduate research student researching fundamental movement skills, physical activity, and balance during early childhood.

My interest in this research area started during my undergraduate degree at Coventry University. I have always enjoyed working with children and encouraging and helping all individuals to be physically active and healthy, with this research area joining these two passions together perfectly.

Having previously worked and collaborated with both Dr Clare Roscoe and Dr Mark Faghy, I joined the University of Derby in September 2019. During my time at Derby, I have successfully conducted review research, qualitative enquiry and field-based data collection. I have published a systematic review from my PhD, further to this I have one further lead author paper, and three other co-author publications.

I enjoy being able to disseminate my findings with undergraduates through my teaching on mainly physical activity and health-based modules, and contributing to the University beyond conducting my research.

Thesis title

Increasing physical activity and fundamental movement skills in early childhood by using school-based interventions.
