Moving from Vietnam to the UK video transcript

Hi everyone I'm Le Thu from Vietnam. I'm a masters student in Career Education and Coaching I have just celebrated my first month in Derby.

Coming to the UK this term was one of the most difficult decisions I made in my life because my family was very concerned about the Covid situation here, however I just wondered if I defer to next year, maybe we'll have another barrier coming to stop me in addition with the increase in the unemployment rate, people need more guidance and support from career advisors as me.So those reasons pushed me to take the risk and move my life to Derby.

Before coming I first add into the WhatsApp group where I start to make the new friend and especially get support for my dedicated staff who guide me through every step in my transition, and make me feel very secure for my first trip to the UK.

Derby welcomed me with the cool weathers and the sunshine of the early autumn when all the yellow leaves carpet on the street that made me fall in love from the first sight.

For my study life I was really surprised for our online teaching system Blackboard, that gave me the same experience again I expect with the face-to-face class. Online class is very engaging as before, group discussions and collaborative activity especially during my first two weeks I get a catch-up session with my Personal Academic Tutor - I never had it before at undergraduate, to discuss about any support, any help I need, and especially to discuss about my study plan.

I feel very happy - secure at home now in Derby with the warm welcome and support from my lecturers, tutor, and academic staff to make sure that I get the most out of one year's here whatever situations happen. I reaffirmed that now is the best time for me to reskill and upskill to prepare for the post pandemic.
