Marc Cowling is Head of Research and Innovation for the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences and Professor of Business Economics. Marc's research focuses on small businesses to ensure their activities make a full contribution to the economic welfare of localities, regions and countries.

Valeria Abreu Minero is a Lecturer in Criminal Psychology. Her primary areas of research are empirical crime scene analysis, methodologies used in the context of the investigative profiling of homicide and offender psychopathology.

Joanna is a Lecturer in Criminal Psychology in the Department of Criminology with research interests in the areas of personality (The Dark Tetrad, as well as aggression and impulsivity), domestic abuse perpetration and victimisation, safeguarding adult and child victims of domestic abuse, and risk assessing.

Francesco Belcastro is a Lecturer and the programme leader of International Relations at the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences here at the University of Derby. He is currently the admissions tutor for International Relations and Diplomacy. He is also a Fellow of the Centre for Syrian Studies, University of St Andrews.

David Best is a Professor of Criminology, he undertakes research around the subjects of addiction recovery and desistance from crime. He leads research into work on desistance from offending, recovery capital and pathways to addiction recovery

Discipline Head: Policing

Tony is Head of Policing at University of Derby, responsible for development and delivery of the policing programme at both undergraduate and postgraduate. This includes the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship, the accredited pre-join degree, Policing and Investigations and at MSc Criminal Investigation, Police Leadership, Finacial and Digitial investigation.

Helen Brocklehurst lectures in Social Science and is Programme Leader for Joint Honours Politics. She teaches modules at masters and undergraduate level which also draw upon her research interests in security, conflict and terrorism; gender and childhood; and the politics of knowledge.

Ray Bull is a Professor of Criminal Investigation at the University of Derby. He teaches on the MSc in Criminal Investigation and undertakes PhD supervision.

Dr Phil Burton-Cartledge is Course Director for the School of Law and Social Sciences and Programme Lead for Sociology. Prior to joining the University in 2013, he previously had worked for a Member of Parliament. A regular commentator on current affairs, his teaching and research interests reflect these concerns.
