Developing talent across the Wabtec UK Group

Manufacturing corporation Wabtec wanted to develop its rising stars in all five of its subsidiaries to encourage growth and collaboration and to develop a corporate culture. We worked with its senior team to devise a bespoke foundation degree that did just that.

Who are Wabtec?

Wabtec Corporation and its five subsidiaries manufacture a broad range of products for use in locomotives, freight cars, passenger transit vehicles and power generation equipment. They employ over 18,000 people globally.

The challenge

Wabtec wanted to create a talent development programme for the employees it felt had the most potential to be future leaders. These people would come from right across the UK group and would be working at different levels and in different locations. By investing in these people, the corporation hoped it would:

Our solution

We developed the Wabtec Foundation Degree in Leadership and Management. It was delivered through a mixture of face-to-face sessions and online learning.

We were able to award credits for employees’ existing experience and qualifications (‘advanced standing’), enabling them to complete the foundation degree in 18 months.
