The University of Derby is a university of and for business; an applied university, committed to using our research and knowledge, expertise and resources to inspire and develop the organisations of today and tomorrow. Using technology, we offer learning and personal development, industry-shaping research and innovation, digital networking events and seminars along with support to nurture and recruit your workforce.

This charter sets out our commitment to ensuring a professional business service for our engagement with external organisations and sets out the quality of service you can expect from us when you contact us with an enquiry.

We will endeavour to:

  • Treat everyone fairly, with courtesy and without discrimination.
  • Provide an accessible point of contact (the Business Gateway team) who will assess and respond to your enquiry, and where appropriate, refer it onto the most relevant contact/team within the University.
  • Provide a responsive approach to your enquiry. We aim to deal with enquiries within two working days of receipt and advise you on the action that we have taken to answer your enquiry.
  • Provide accurate and up to date advice on the Business Services support available to you from the University.
  • Use clear and concise language.
  • Signpost you to other services and providers, where appropriate.
  • Accurately record relevant information according to the nature of your enquiry and keep your contact information on our CRM system in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.
  • Provide you with the opportunity to make an enquiry out of normal office hours via our web enquiry form, email or telephone answerphone.
  • Give you the opportunity to feedback to help improve our services.

If at any time you feel we have not met the standards you would expect, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can instigate our Commercial Complaints Process and we can improve our service.
