How to prepare for a virtual interview video transcript

Hello, my name's Karen Newberry and I'm a senior lecturer in Occupational Therapy. I've been at the university for 19 years, and have been involved with the admissions process for a number of years.

A large number of programmes in Health Care include an interview as part of the admissions process, and that includes Occupational Therapy.

This video will provide you with some information to help you prepare should you be invited to attend an interview.

We now run virtual interviews due to the current situation and we hope that these hints and tips will help you with your interview.

Firstly, relax.
 
Second, make sure you have a drink. A glass of water is always good to have by your side.

Third, dress smart. Dress how you would if we were meeting you in person.

Fourth, have fun.

We want to see your personality shine through, during your interview. Interviews take place through Microsoft Teams. So when your interview slot comes through, make sure you accept the invitation, download the software and try to log in.

You will need to remember your username and password. So make sure you note it down somewhere safe, so you have it ready for your all-important interview day.

On the day of your interview, log in at least 10 minutes before, just to make sure you don't have any technical issues.

Then, take a deep breath, before it all begins. Teams is really easy to use.

The interviewer will call you at your allotted time and you just need to make sure when you answer, that your mic and camera are both on. We want to see your friendly faces! There are many ways to ace your interviews. Make sure you know why you want to do your course and what makes you so passionate about it.
 
We will ask you various questions but there will be a focus on the 6 Cs.

We will look at your current skills and any relevant experience and your attitude.
