I am Deputy Head of Depatment for Therapeutic Practice and Discipline Lead for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am responsible for working with the rest of the management team in the College of Health and Social Care to enhance the provision offerd within the college and across colleges.
I am specifically responsible for the operational functions of the counselling and psychotherapy discipline. This involves having and overview of several programmes we offer including:
Systemic Practice and Thinking
Compassion Focused Therapy
Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy
Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy
and also our Uk collaborative provision Person Centred Counselling which is delivered from South Cheshire College and also Person Centred Counselling at Preston's College
Our European partner is Mediterrainian College Athens they deliver our MSc Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I also programme and module lead the Postgraduate Certificate in Compassion Focused Therapy
I teach across the Department of Therapeutic Practice generally I am invited to teach on Compassion Focused Therapy and Compassion in the workplace
I specifically teach on the postgraduate certificate in Compassion Focused Therapy

I am a board member of the Compassionate Mind Foundation which is a registered charity which aims
To promote wellbeing through the scientific understanding and application of compassion via:
- Helping to identify researchers and others who have a specific interest in the scientific study of compassion and its underlying processes, and facilitate communication and interchange between them.
- To support research and teaching of the compassion focused approach to human difficulties.
- To facilitate open discussion on how to further promote a compassionate focus in many domains of human activity.
- To engage in activities and raise funds to support the work and aims of the Foundation
I worked for 16 years in the NHS firstly as a mental health nurse, then two years as an assistant psychologist and then as a counsellor in primary care. I then movedd into Higher Education as a lecturer. I also work as a private psychotherapist and clinical supervisor.
