About

I am a Senior Lecturer in Film Production teaching undergraduates and also delivering professionally accredited short training courses.

Having taught filmmaking techniques since 1999, I specialise in Digital Cinema Production workflows. My main interest lies in Cinematography, combining the artistic and technical elements of this subject

I hold a teaching qualification and I am passionate about student-centered learning. I enjoy supporting and exploring a creative a approach to filmmaking with all the students I teach.

Born in Yorkshire, I studied Contemporary Art in Nottingham specialising in the moving image. Along with narrative and documentary film making I have a keen interest in producing moving image artwork.

I'm an avid fan of the cinema of Stanley Kubrick, Terrence Malick, Steven Soderberg, Paul Thomas Anderson, Steve McQueen and Ingmar Bergman

Professional interests

I am a Cinematographer and Digital Cinema Production Consultant. 

As well as narrative film making I have an keen interest in film and video art.

Currently I work as Directer of Photography on mainly drama, documentary films and commercials.

I'm currently cinematographer on the feature film Cold Mile House; a contemporary Gothic psychological horror written by Tom Craig and directed by veteran New Zealand filmmaker Christine Parker.

Experience in industry

I worked on the British cult classic Dead Mans Shoes and directed In Shane's Shoesfor Channel 4 about feature film director Shane Meadows.

I've also directed and shot numerous commercial and promotional films. Clients have included Disney Junior Channel, Channel 4, ITV, Warp Films, Optimum Releasing, fashion designer Paul Smith, The Forestry Commission, tailors Whitcomb and Shaftesbury, The Youth Hostels Association, NHS, Leicestershire Road Safety Campaign, The University of Derby, 'The Gob Squad' theatre company, The Arts Council, Nottingham City and County Council and Derby City and County Council.

I'm an expert in using the latest digital cinema cameras from RED. I'm advanced level Apple Certified Trainer in Final Cut Pro (Editing) and a BBC Trained Camera Operator.

I'm currently shooting a feature film with colleagues Tom Craig and Christine Parker Argon Green.
