About

I am a lecturer on the BSc Counselling and Psychotherapy: Principles and Practices programme at the University of Derby and a BACP registered and accredited Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

I have been associated with the University of Derby as both a student and staff member, completing my Masters studies here and working towards attaining Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

With an extensive background with a passion for this field; I equip students to work with clients and shape the future of the profession. I was recently nominated for the 'Personal Academic Tutor of the Year' award at the Union of Students Education Awards.

Research interests

 I have undertaken extensive research in the areas of grief, loss and bereavement. My research ‘Grieving Ambiguous Loss: Understanding the Experience of Being ‘Looked-After’: An Integrative Psychotherapeutic Perspective’ is pending review for publication.

A lover of all things outdoors, nature and ‘Hygge’, I enjoy the simple things in life. Using my creative flair I like to work on a project or two on the side.
