About

I have been working in, around, and with the procurement, logistics and supply chain management functions since the late 1990s, both as a professional and as a researcher. I have been delivering operational, tactical and strategic thinking to clients in Iran and Latin American countries. I joined the University of Derby in September 2018. I am currently working as a senior lecturer in Procurement and Operations management at Derby Business School.

Expertise has been validated through leading European Commission project Horizon 2020 programs MG4.1 [AEOLIX] (Global logistics connectivity & ICT), and IND CE 2017 [PolyCE] (Resource-efficient circular economy supply chains) alongside UK Government research with the Department for Transport on smart city transportation and the Government Office of Science delivering intelligence around freight and transportation futures.

I am also engaged as a Chartered Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) and Chartered Member of Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transportation (UK).

Teaching responsibilities

I lead and teach various modules in this programme. I also teach modules related to topics of Operations and Logistics to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

I am supervising student projects at undergraduate, postgraduate and DBA levels.

Professional interests

I am interested in the topic of Risk and Resilience in Food Supply Chains, Geographical Dispersion of Supply Chains, Connected Communities, Tackling Poverty and leveraging skills to combat same.

Research interests

I am interested in conducting research in all aspects of global supply chain management, in particular within the food industry.

I also maintain an interest to research on the use of Information Communication Technology in supply chain operations with the aim of improving visibility, connectivity and interoperability between supply chain actors who are geographically dispersed.

Another field of research that I am eagerly following is the digitalisation of the industry, both how it can be accelerated and also the effects/implications of it.
