About

Mike graduated from Loughborough University in 1980 from their B.Tech (Hons) Metallurgical Engineering and Management. He spent ten years working as a Design and Development Engineer with Qualcast Lawnmowers in Derby, and during this time designed and developed the UK's best selling electric rotary lawnmower for two consecutive years. He also developed the patented Lawn Edge Trimming device. He subsequently worked in hygiene product development with PHS at Tamworth and industrial cleaning product development with Diversey-Johnson in North Derbyshire, before joining the University to initiate their Product Design programmes in 1993.

He has a number of international conference papers and patents to his name and, since joining the University, has undertaken consultancy work in design for Boots, Pennine Healthcare and Abru, and gained a Masters degree in Computing (Vision and Visualisation), in addition to his teaching duties.
