Qualifications

Experience in industry

Prior to joining the University of Derby, I delivered eight change initiatives over 16 years at Cardiff University. The projects and programmes ranged from Modernizing Dental Education, Development and roll-out of the C21 Medical Curriculum (move from traditional pedagogy to problem-based learning), Digitisation of regulatory processes and introduction of electronic assessments across the faculty (7 academic Schools), Centralisation of 'Confirmation, Clearing and Adjustment' from being devolved across 26 academic Schools, establishing a central admissions service and operating model and marketing and recruitment framework to support student recruitment. My last programme at Cardiff University was the development of 'Translational Research Hub' (a new £150m state-of-the-art research facility which included chemical, photonics and electronic labs and a cleanroom to support Cardiff Catalysis Institute and the Institute of Compound Semiconductors).

My early career included work in the public and private sectors including Newport County Council, University of South Wales, Virgin Media, and GlaxoSmithKline.

Additional interests and activities

I enjoy yoga, travelling, hiking, history, astronomy, watching cricket and learning about our ancient and medieval civilisations and physics.
