June is the University Secretary & Registrar and a member of the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive (VCE) team. She leads the Registry which comprises of: Quality Assurance, College & Registry Services, Student Services and Registry Systems & Services Enhancement. June’s role spans: governance, compliance and all aspects of the academic administration and student services across all sites from admissions to graduation. This includes all the academic regulations as she chairs the Regulatory Framework Committee (RFC). June is also Secretary to Academic Board. As Clerk to Council, June ensures that Governing Council operates to fulfil its responsibilities as laid out in the Committee of University Chairs Code (CUC): this spans academic, financial, risk management and audit controls. Compliance with sector policies eg Prevent and Safeguarding also falls within the remit. 

Membership of professional bodies

June is qualified through the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. She is a fellow and Council member of the Association of University Administrators (AUA). She is a member of the Association of Heads of University Administration (AHUA), chairing the Midlands Regional Group and part of the national AHUA Executive team.


Experience in industry

June’s early part of her career was spent at the Halifax Building Society and subsequently Debenhams PLC. She has worked at the University (and its predecessor Derbyshire College of Higher Education) since 1987. She joined the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology as the Senior Administrative Officer becoming Assistant Registrar Admissions, Deputy and then Academic Registrar, Director of Student Support and Information Services (SSIS). In 2014, June became University Secretary and Registrar, joining the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive (VCE) team in September 2015.

Additional interests and activities

Her leisure interests include travelling, skiing, and heritage and history. She is also a keen supporter of both Liverpool and Burton Albion football clubs.
