I am a Senior Lecturer in Sports Coaching, as well as being the Deputy Programme Lead for the B.Sc. Performance Analysis & Coaching Science, BA Sports Coaching and Development and FdSc Sports Performance & Analysis programmes.

I teach several modules across these and other programmes across Sport and Exercise Science, considering and analysing the theory and practical application of coaching and coach education. 

I am also part of the University's Human Performance Unit which provides sports science support to teams, individuals and coaches who want to enhance their performance. Using cutting edge technology and expertise from within the SOES team, the HPU offers a range of services and workshops designed to educate, enhance performance and reduce injury risk.

Teaching responsibilities

I teach on the following modules as part of the Sport and Exercise Science programmes including Performance Analysis and Coaching Science, Sports Coaching and Development, Sports and Education and FdSc Sports Performance and Analysis:

Research interests

I am interested in all aspects of coaching, education and learning, alongside the impact of sports, community and coaching based partners at all levels but I'm currently involved in research projects in the following areas:

Experience in industry

I have worked extensively across the sporting sector for over 25 years prior with roles including as a grassroots, talent development and elite coach with clubs and associations including Derby County, Burton Albion and Middlesbrough, as well as a County Development Officer and Coach Educator with the Football Association. I also worked nationally with UK Coaching as a Coach Education Advisor and Lead Coach Educator.

I am also involved in local sport through volunteering as a coach, mentor and committee member across a range of sports my daughters are involved with including football, cricket, tennis, athletics and gymnastics.
